The Christmas Reindeer is linked with Santa Clause riding on his sled starting at the North Pole and delivering toys to children around the world.  Santa's sled is coupled up with eight reindeer fliying through the night sky, on a mission to circle navigate the Earths circumference in one single night,  placing gifts under Christmas trees. 

Fact;- Reindeer are found in the Artic and subartic regions of Northern America.  Asia and Europe.  To suite these harsh climate regions reindeer coats are insulated by thick, multi-layered dense fur.  

Several thousand years ago reindeer came to become early domestic animals,  whilst being known as a symbol of Christmas time.  Creative pieces, keepsakes and collectibles were made by carpenters who carve wooden reindeer,  potters, painters and even native rock paintings have encryption of  reindeer. Even today reindeer identity is now yearly associated with the Christmas season. 

Fact;- Life span is 10 years, male reindeer a called bulls and females are known as cows,  babies are calves. Reindeer shed their antlers every year,  female usually shed after they have given birth to their offspring.    

Major Henry Livingstone Jr, in 1907, wrote the legendary Christmas rhyme 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Clement Clare More who was respected educationist made may alterations to this piece.  This tale told, encased the names of  the reindeer that drove Santa's sleigh, known as Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen. 

Historical American department store  Montgomery Ward, acquired the help of writer ad author Robert L May to write booklet.  May wrote the story "Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer" in 1939.  Later Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer story was transformed into song lyric.  The lyrics for the song were developed by John Marks who was also May's brother in-law. 1949,  Gene Autry recorded the song telling tale and selling over two million records within twelve months.  The strength of the story has been phenomena,  with many more adorned tales told about,  Rudolf.   


Fact;- Sense of smell for reindeer is overwhelmingly strong.  Arctic food is relevantly scarce, reindeer need to burrow deeply beneath the surface snow in order to locate grasses, lichen, willow and type of leaves from birch tree. Reindeer are also known to forage on mushroom, vegetation and bird eggs.
